Psalm 3. “I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained - TopicsExpress

Psalm 3. “I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.” [v5]. How difficult it must have been for the Psalmist, King David, to write in these circumstances. For any father to flee in terror from his son is dreadful to contemplate, but it is agonizing to read, “So David went up by the ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went up, and he had his head covered and went barefoot.” [2 Samuel 15: 30]. However, from verse 3 onwards, King David paints a changed picture. He acknowledges that God makes all the difference when David cries out to Him [v4]. He then goes on to write remarkable things: he was able to lie down and sleep, to awake and not be afraid of a mighty army! What made the difference? The Lord sustained him, [v5], and, “Salvation belongs to the Lord. Your blessing is upon your people.” [v8]. Do we know the Lord who makes such a difference? youtube/watch?v=4sKGTzn1qT4
