Psalm 32-Prayer that guides us and strengthens us as we find a ‘hiding’ place to be alone with God. How did you feel when you woke up today? Did you feel like you were prepared for the day or did you feel like pulling the covers over your head and stay in bed? Each day that we wake up gives us the opportunity to see God in action in our lives. First of all He gives us peace in the midst of turmoil. His Word is a guide for our thoughts and actions. He is with us the good times and bad times. He knows us and will guide us in our decisions and actions today if we just ask Him. He forgives us for the sins we have committed when we ask Him. We can begin this day with a clean heart when we confess our sins and find His forgiveness. In verse 7 is a verse of comfort. God is our hiding place. He shelters us from the destruction of our hope and faith by words that we hear in the news, words from our families, and words from our own destructive self-talk when we put ourselves down. When we spend time with God in Bible study or prayer we are refreshed in this ‘spiritual time out’. Psalm 32 1 Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! 2 Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt,* whose lives are lived in complete honesty! 3 When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. 4 Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Interlude 5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Interlude 6 Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment. 7 For you are my hiding place; My prayer for you today is that you find that spiritual hiding place to be alone with God as you seek His guidance today.
