Quiet yourself before the Lord your God today and see what He will do in your life. Watch and see what God is doing in the World around you; trust Him to use you! Attention, all! See the marvels of God! -Psalm 46:8a (MSG) Come and see what the Lord has done! -Psalm 46:8a (NIV) We often get so caught up in our own agendas and our own plans that we fail to see what God is doing around us. We miss the leading of the Holy Spirit prompting us to reach out to others because we have become so caught up in doing. How sad for us and how sad for those whom we MAY be touching for the sake of the Gospel. We are missing opportunities to reach out and touch others for Christ. Step out of the traffic; cease striving; just be still. At times like this it is important to turn the focus back to the One whom it should have been on all the time, God. Jonathan Edwards reminds us of this truth, Be still, and know that I am God. The sole consideration that God is God, sufficient to still all objections to his sovereignty. In that he is God, he is an absolutely and infinitely perfect being. As he is God, he is so great, that he is infinitely above all comprehension. As he is God, all things are his own. In that he is God, he is worthy to be sovereign over all things. In that he is God, he will be sovereign, and will act as such. In that he is God, he is able to avenge himself on those who oppose his sovereignty. -Jonathan Edwards Take a long, loving look at your God, Most High and know that He is who He says He is. Without Him we are nothing, headed nowhere, accomplishing nada; so stop rushing around and start listening to His still small voice. Let us always remember that our first priority is to bring praise and honor to the Lord our God. If our focus has turned elsewhere this may no longer be our priority. Time to quiet ourselves before the Lord, relax and loosen our grip on the things that we hold as important. Time to let God speak to us and possibly redirect our footsteps so that we are on the path that He has chosen for us. Today, let us take time to concentrate on the Lord our God. Let go of all the distractions and cares that have distracted you from focusing on Him. Be still before Him and know that He and He alone is God. My Prayer: Lord, too often I do get caught up in my life and the plans I have made. Too often other things have crept in and taken the place that I should have had reserved for you. I am sorry, please forgive me. I always want to bring praise and glory to your Name. Help me to keep my priorities straight. Help me to be listening for that still small voice prompting me to bless others. Lord, be glorified in me.
