Psalms 19: 13-14 “Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless and I shall be innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my Strength and my Redeemer. I can see how presuming without Truth can be destructive, wall building and heart hardening. In hindsight I see the evil imagination of my own heart at work while my days unfold, with the help of the enemy’s magnification, pinpointing the weakness of my flesh and subtly causing me to dwell in a mirage in my mind. I notice how if I dwell for just a few moments, mulling thoughts over and over in my mind, a short story is born. My imagination can create a false image of myself or others around me if I allow these thoughts to become a truth within myself, uncorrected. When this happens I am being disobedient to God’s Word, and taking my focus off “Whatever things are true, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy- meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:8. In my disobedience I allow the enemy of my soul an open shot, straight to my heart. See, this battlefield of the mind is where I choose what I accept into my heart. Jesus said “…For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Matthew 12:34. So I need to be aware of the capability of my soul and not to feed it more fire and death, but to feed it what it needs to be corrected, God’s Word. Many walk this earth and willfully seek discord, drama, gossip aka darkness. In the days of Noah, Genesis 6:5-8 “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. Noah pleased God because he was obedient to God’s Word. I touch on this to show how Mighty, Holy, but yet how Merciful, Graceful and Loving God is. After the flood God made a promise “…Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done…” Genesis 8:21. This is a covenant promise between God and man, and He as place the rainbow in the sky as a reminder. The world and those who have been led astray paint a condemning picture of God. Jesus said it Himself as God’s Son, revealing God’s heart “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:17-18. See this, that if the enemy can get us to dwell on seemingly insignificant thoughts that draw me in to the point of acting on them. He can attack the weakness of my flesh with pin point accuracy at my most vulnerable times. These are the thoughts that give birth to sin, and when I sin, I condemn myself. And this is where the enemy wants us living every second of our lives, in defeat. We all mess up. We have all thought, said, and done things that would like to take back. But God accepts us in our darkest hour, just as we are. He has a plan for all of us, but we will never find it if we don’t have Jesus. It all starts with Him. He can take away the pain, He can wipe away each and every tear. I urge you to take your eyes off from the things of this world, and look to the Lover of your soul. Yes there is victory in Jesus!!
