Psalms 31:23 O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. Psalms 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD. ******************************************************* The Christian can be comforted and encouraged by the promises of God. These promises have been realized by many of God’s faithful throughout history. The Biblical accounts of promises fulfilled should boost our faith and confidence in the Lord so we to can hold to them and claim them as our own. David could certainly attest to God’s faithfulness as he wrote Psalms 31:23 and 24. How many times was David preserved and how many times was he rewarded plentifully? He recognized the blessings of God and praised Him for them. My mind also goes to Ruth as an example of God faithfulness in preserving and in rewarding plentifully. As Ruth and Naomi were in Moab they had reached a very low point in their lives. Both of their husbands having died and now widowed and trying to figure how to live on their own Naomi decides to return to her home land in Bethlehem and allow Ruth to stay with her natural family in Moab. But Ruth would not leave her mother-in-law. Her future must have looked very bleak. If she went to Bethlehem with Naomi she would be going to a foreign land with no family to support her. Being widowed she would have been very vulnerable and it would have been dangerous for her. Being widowed she was also going to have to try to find a way to survive day to day trying to find food and shelter. But she did not allow her circumstances to dictate her faith in God. If she could have seen the blessings in front of her then that would not have been faith at all. She turned her back on the past and obediently followed God’s will for her life even though naturally speaking it did not make sense. Her faithfulness still affects us even yet today because she became the great grandmother of David and preserved God’s plan for the linage of Christ. So be of good courage today. The Lord does preserve plentifully those that are faithful. You are not forgotten. Don’t allow present circumstances to influence your confidence in God. Your diligence will be reward…..Promise.
