Psychosocial distress in osteosarcoma patients, survivors, family members and close friends: international survey regarding the need for additional psychooncological care I am an orthopedic surgeon from Munich, Germany specialized in orthopedic oncology. One of my main research interests is the evaluation and treatment of psychosocial distress (communication with psychooncologists) in patients with sarcomas as well as their family members or close friends. In my experience over 50% of all sarcoma patients suffer from relevant psychosocial distress due to their disease and need a psychooncological treatment. In one of our studies in our patients we found that also a significant number of family members showed psychosocial distress with the need of treatment. In our department we offer screenings and appropriate treatment routinely but unfortunately this topic is still underestimated in many sarcoma treatment centers around the world. Therefore, we developed a short survey regarding psychosocial distress and the need for additional psychooncological care. This Facebook group offers us a unique opportunity to reach as many affected people as possibble. Aim of this survey is to draw more attention to the high demand of psychooncological care in sarcoma patients, survivors, family members and close friends. It is important to mention that we are from a university hospital (Klinikum rechts der Isar, Technical University Munich, Germany) and our survey is for scientific purposes only. The survey is totally voluntary, absolutely anonymous and is independent from Facebook. It will be our pleasure to inform you all about our findings as soon as the study is completed. Please participate in our survey in order to highlight the necessity of psychooncological care as an important part of sarcoma treatment. Thank you very much! https://de.surveymonkey/s/psychooncology-sarcoma All the best and a happy holiday season, Dr. Florian Pohlig
