Public Interest Or Self Interest? Its now exactly 6 days since the APC Presidential Primary was held and up till now, the choice of the Vice Presidential Candidate is still a matter of conjecture. After close to over 20 meetings, we have heard that it was zoned to the South West. And then narrowed down to a few prospects. And then JAGABAN signified interest. And then some APC Governors said no. And then he presented Prof Osibajo as Plan B. And they still said no. And then it is back to Amaechi. At least for now. While all this rigmarole and roundabout is going on, our dear General Buhari, the expected savior of Nigeria stands helpless. Never has the choice of a VP been so contentious in the history of a party. So Im tempted to ask a few questions? 1. Why is the choice of the VP more difficult to make than the choice of the Presidential candidate? Is it because they all know like we all know that the VP will be the Defacto Head of Government and Buhari will just be a figure head a la Buhari/Idiagbon? 2. Is this really about the public interest or about the interest of those who have spent dollars and naira on the Buhari project and want their rewards now? 3. If APC cannot make a simple decision in 6 days, can they be trusted to make decisions on behalf of 170m Nigerians? 4. So who is actually clueless now? Ha! I have used torchlight to look for the trouble of my Buharist friends tonight!
