Public Lecture: Friday Jan 16th 3-5 pm @McGill University Room ARTS W-120 Dr. Anthony Stewart is a professor in the English Department at Bucknell University, known for his outstanding contributions to Black Canadian Studies. His books, You Must Be A Basketball Player: Rethinking Integration in the University (2009) and Visitor: My Life in Canada (2014) draw on his own experiences as a Black Canadian man of Caribbean ancestry and a scholar in Canadian universities to critically examine issues of race and diversity in academia and in the broader national context. He speaks and writes about these complex issues in accessible language and with good humour, personal honesty and critical insight. Reflecting C-‐Uni-‐T’s mission to create accessible spaces for dialogue between members of Montreal Black communities and a range of students and academics, Dr. Stewart’s various speaking events while here will be geared towards undergraduate students, graduate students and professors, local youth, and the general public. https://facebook/events/738812346172551/
