Public Open House for City of Montrose 2015 Budget City of Montrose staff invites the public to attend an open house to review the 2015 budget document on September 23rd from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 107 South Cascade Avenue in downtown Montrose. An informal question and answer session will follow a short presentation by City Manager Bill Bell and Finance Director Shani Wittenberg. City staff and City Council have worked the last several months to create a budget that meets the needs of our community and makes the most efficient and effective use of public resources. The appropriating ordinance to set the 2015 budget will be approved by the end of November. The proposed 2015 budget totals $41 million, an increase of approximately 1.75% from the 2014 Budget, with $17.7 million supporting the General Fund. General Fund services include public safety, street maintenance, parks and cemetery maintenance, and the general administration of the city. In 2015, the proposed budget for the general fund increased 2.7% over the 2014 Budget. Ten percent of the expenditures in the General Fund will be transferred to the capital improvement fund to improve streets and parks. For those unable to attend, the budget may be viewed at CityofMontrose.org/budget. For more information, contact Finance Director Shani Wittenberg at (970) 240-1462.
