Public Safety I believe the primary objective of government is to protect its citizens and to support those who protect us. I believe in providing our police, firefighters, and other emergency responders with the tools necessary to do their jobs safely and efficiently. This includes supporting the County Jail and our local unions which have a substantial impact on lives of the counties’ employees. Serving the Public I believe an officeholder has a duty not only to his statutory obligation but other needs of their constituents as well. This is why I will not hesitate to help the public navigate other governmental programs. Your hard-earned tax dollars are paying for services and I will seek to make sure the public is aware and gets the help they deserve. Working with the Business Community Businesses empower the community. They employ people and produce goods and services necessary to our economy. They should be consulted on matters relating to the fiscal management of the county and should be asked to provide guidance on issues pertaining to their industry. I believe tax and regulations should be kept as low as possible while maintaining maximum benefit for the public as a whole. The Council should do everything in its power to help build a stronger economy by attracting good-paying, quality jobs; building a business-friendly, pro-worker climate; and providing incentives to attract and keep the great businesses we already have. Fiscal Management and Taxes The County should be given all the tools necessary to provide services in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible, without sacrificing quality. Tax decisions should be based on sound policy and careful analysis. A fair and equitable system is best, reducing the negative impact of property tax reform on schools and local services and encouraging county departments to find areas where efficiencies can be increased and tax dollars can be saved. The best job a councilperson can do is keep finances in order, obtaining the maximum benefit for cost. Additionally- I Support Public Educators I Support transparency and public communication
