Public Service Announcement: its an urban jungle out there. Friends, please learn from my unfortunate experience and please Wear Shoes That Protect Your Feet! As I was maneuvering quickly down U Street earlier today, right at the intersection of 14th, I managed to get a shard of glass through the thin sole of my sandal and in to my foot. It was pretty horribly painful and instantly I couldnt put weight on the foot. I hopped in to the Black and Orange burger place and did what I could to get the glass out. A friend took me to Urgent Care in Cleveland Park (NOT BAD at all my fellow uninsured citizens) and they took one look at my foot in bloody paper napkins and got me back for a thorough clean and two stitches pretty darn fast. They were really great, but Im down $150, missed a class, and I hate that. All because I was wearing flimsy sandals and like it or not, people throw bottles on the sidewalk. As soon as I can walk, Im going to buy REAL SHOES.
