Public Service Yesterday a friend got her Facebook account - TopicsExpress

Public Service Yesterday a friend got her Facebook account hacked and she was a little embarassed, even though it wasnt her fault. So I thought Id help some of you out with what to look for so this doesnt happen to you. The hacker used what is called phishing. Its basicly tricking people into giving up theyre ID and password. There are a couple of ways to do this. What this hacker tried to do was tell me that there were some pics of me that I needed to see of me that were photoshopped. I asked them to send me the link but instead the sent me the website. I went to the website and it was an obvious phishing page. Basicly it was a fake FB page that asked me to enter my ID and Password to access these so called pictures of me. I did not, but others werent so lucky. So let me show you what the web page looks like so you will know not to give out your password and ID. You can go to this page but DO NOT LOG IN. I JUST WANT YOU TO SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. You cant be hacked unless you fall for the fake login Ok. Now this is the link 351646.fbugly4/x/fbn/?next=http%3A%2F%2F%2videos%2F%3AJ%4ID%1A The first thing you look at when you see a page like this that gives it away instantly as a fake is the domain name. If it was real it would have the face book domain name in it (facebook) I pinged the website and found the proxy server they were using. Its located in New York. You can block this website from shaking hands with your computer. Here is a step by step link that will block the proxys IP. Its kinda of a long process but it will secure you from future attacks from this proxy. Follow the instuctions carefully and when asked: enter this IP 63.165.243.112 serverintellect/support/windowsserversecurity/ipsec-blockip/ I also recommend you install Spybot and Peer Blocker. They are both free. Spybot has a pre-gathered list of harmful websites it automaticly blocks for you when you Immunize your system. Peer blocker will show you and also block all the unwanted sites trying to access your computer. Tomorrow I will tell you what other ways they try to Phish you. I hope this helps you. Feel free to share this with who ever you want. Have a Great Day. Paul
