Public Services International and the International Trade Union Confederation are calling for letters of protest to be sent to the Peruvian Minister of Labor in support of Luis Isarra, general secretary of the Federation of Unions of Water Workers of Peru (FENTAP). Luiss permanent union leave was revoked by the Peruvian government just before the UN Climate Change conference (COP20), in Lima this month. Luis is responsible for coordinating Perus labor movement mobilzation for the summit. His union FENTAP has been increasingly active in opposing the water and sanitation privatization policies of both the current and previous governments.
