Public invited to see Northern Link Road plans Wakefield Council is holding engagements events so that members of the public can see the proposed plans for the Northern Link Road in Pontefract. At the events, residents can see the plans and find out more details about the proposed works and also information on the Prince of Wales site, Town End and Junction 32 improvements. The following drop-in events are open to everyone: • Ladybalk Working Men’s Club (Ladybalk Lane, Pontefract WF8 1JQ) Thursday January 30, 3-7pm • St Giles Church (Market Place, Pontefract, West Yorkshire. WF8 1AT) Friday January 31, 3-7pm Representatives from the Council and Harworth Estates will be in attendance at the above events so that residents can discuss the plans. Cllr Denise Jeffery, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth, said: “We want to encourage as many people as possible to come along and view the plans for the schemes and speak to ourselves and Harworth Estates about the plans. “These plans will bring many benefits to the local area. The new road will help ease traffic congestion in Pontefract, improve transport links and tie in with improvements proposed at junctions on Pontefract Road and Town End and improvements to Monkhill Station. It will also unlock housing and development opportunities in Pontefract. “Visit one of the engagement events to find out more.” The exhibition of the Northern Link Road plans will also be available in the main entrance at Pontefract Town Hall from 3 to 7 February, 9am – 4.30pm. The plans will also be available online from January 30 at wakefield.gov.uk/TransportAndTravel/HighwaysAndMaintenance/PontefractNorthernLinkRoad.htm
