The BNP chief has been telling party leaders and supporters of launching programmes at the right time despite her repeated call for elections that the has been ignored by the government. She inaugurated the month-long programmes of pro-BNP Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal at her Gulshan office on Monday night. At the event, she said, We will have to hold programmes throughout this month before beginning our movement. She said the Awami League government was no more popular at the current critical political situation in the country. Khaleda, who boycotted the last parliamentary polls, again renewed her stance of not going to any election under the ruling partys administration. Awami League cant hold a fair election. Their HT Imam (the prime ministers political affairs adviser) has said already how they rigged and engineered votes during the Jan 5 polls. The election will have to be held under a nonpartisan government.” The BNP chief on Monday again said her partys relation with Jamaat-e-Islami was only based on electoral understanding and a common movement. She said the BNP had no special ties with Jamaat – a party that opposed Bangladeshs birth during the War of Independence in 1971. Responding to criticisms for having Jamaat as an ally, Khaleda retorted that the 1996 Awami League government had a Razakar minister. They (AL) say we let Razakars drive around in cars flaunting the national flag. But they (AL) first made Razakar Nurul Islam (then religious affairs minister) a minister. There are more such cases. She said the BNP was a pro-Liberation party but not the Awami League as it had abandoned the country by crossing the border during the war. The former prime minister also alleged that the armed forces and police were being made partisan along with the judiciary and government institutions. Not even the Army is neutral anymore. Only the followers of Awami League get promoted, she claimed. The ruling party leaders and ministers were damaging Bangladeshs image in the international arena by making appalling remarks, Khaleda further claimed. Reacting to AL General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islams remarks about the US assistant secretary of state Nisha Desai Biswal who visited Dhaka recently, she said, Awami League has been swearing at BNP for so long that they are now even swearing at foreigners. They (AL) dont know how to respect anyone. Now they are tarnishing the countrys image by insulting foreigners. (Agriculture) Minister Matia Chowdhury had insulted the World Bank president before. The former prime minister blamed the government for the’decline’ in manpower export to the Middle East. She claimed the United Arab Emirates ambassador in Dhaka who she met on Sunday had told her that manpower export to his country from Bangladesh had stopped due to different irregularities in the government. Khaleda alleged that the government was obstructing people from complaining about their sufferings under the Awami Leagues rule. No one is allowed to hold rallies in Dhaka. We didnt get approval to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on Nov 7, but they held one on Nov 3.” Mahmudur Rahman Mannas Nagarik Oikya was also not allowed to hold a rally recently, she added, asking, So there will be only Awami League in the country? The BNP chief urged the freedom fighters in the audience at the programme on Monday night to raise voice against the Awami League since it was striking deals ‘against the countrys interest’. bdnews24/politics/2014/12/02/khaleda-drops-hint-of-agitation-for-snap-election-in-new-year
