Published on Jan 29, 2014 Democratic candidate for governor Charlie Crist targets Gov. Rick Scotts ethics in a speech to reporters at the state Capitol and Crist says schoolchildren across Florida deserve a governor they can respect. Crist talks about the health care company that Scott led in the 1990s, which was forced to pay the largest fine for fraud in U.S. history. That to me is stunning and frankly unconscionable, Crist said, but thats where we are. Crist accuses Scott of developing a pay-to-play culture in Tallahassee, saying campaign contributions help pave the way for some to earn lucrative state contracts. Crist also describes in detail the days and moments leading up to his hug of President Obama in Fort Myers that effectively ended his career as a Republican, as he put it, It was the hug that killed me as a Republican. Theres no question about it and Im very happy to be a Democrat, a Florida Democrat. Its a privilege. I saw the light and Im sorry for the leadership in my former party. I think it was Jeb Bush himself who said todays Republican Party is being perceived as anti-women, anti-minority, anti-gay couple, anti-environment, anti-education, pretty soon theres no one left in the room. This video runs 42 minutes.
