Published on May 24, 2012 Its been months since Seattles tragic Snowpocalypse and now the truths come out: it was nothing but a media fraud. Or was it? No matter, Rangos got more important things to tend to: his buddy Tim Hearn. Its a widely known fact that Im bipolar and of course art imitates life so my alter-ego Rango is, too. Whereas Im gently touched and slightly medicated he is completely unbridled and hellbent on getting his 15 minutes. This week I released my first short film starring Rango, a programmer/metal guitarist/ballet dancer with an evil robot and an empathetic rabbit. Operation Rango: Into the Snow is based on real footage captured during Seattles tragic Snowpocalypse back in January at the cusp of a manic episode that Im still shaking off. Its 8 minutes long, a dark comedy that blends the lines of my life with those in the narrative and some of the real musicians Ive become friends with on Facebook (ed: as opposed to the imaginary ones ??). I wrote and performed all of the music minus a few barres in the final credits, and I came up with the narrative on the fly. It took me 45 minutes in the snow and 24 hours continuous editing to create the original cut, and 4 months to frost the cake.
