Pull up a chair, grab a cuppa coffee. . Got a little story to tell ya.. while sitting at my mommabears dining room table, going thru old photos, her phone rings. .876 area code. I know immediately the phone scammers are calling. I answered the phone in a feeble voice and was asked what would be a good time to have my 2014 Mercedes-Benz, and a check for $4.5 million dollars. .I acted startled, and he went thru the whole spiel about my moms good fortune. He asked for her credit card number, to pay the $499.00 in taxes before they could deliver the winnings. I explained that I had turned all of finances over to an attorney, and gave him my name and cell # so arrangements could be made. Oh no, we can only delivery this to you. . Do you have a checking account? .. yes, I replied.. and he asked me for the number. .I told him I would have to go get it. ..I laid the phone down and mom and I, walked to the back. I explained to her it was the phone scam people. . and that we were gonna have a little fun. ..I went back to the phone and said hello, when his very thick jamican accent requested the numbers. .I said what numbers? He had to go thru the whole speil again. .I could tell he was getting aggravated, and it was all I could do to contain my laughter. .it came to and end when I repeated that the attorney had to clear my writing the check. He shouted, what do you want me to do with the check! !!!??? Well. .. for starters, you can (deb mode and voice kick in) take that check, fold it sideways and stick it up your azz... his reply contained some reference to his package, which apparently, is quite large. . We traded pleasantries for a few more minutes. Noticing his jamican accent had all but vanished. .. All the while my mom is laughing.. after hanging up, I realized, we had tied him up for almost an hour over the phone. ..my mom was so impressed. . She said, I wish I could think that fast, I just get so mad I stumble for words! later that day, I got up with the attorney generals office. There are over 300,000 phone calls from jamica to the U.S. daily. F.B.I. agents are getting killed down there in an attempt to stop this scam. If you have parents that are slipping watch out for them. These scammers are relentless, skillful and prey on the sentiment of leaving your children & grandkids a boat load of money. .trust me, if you arent watching out for them, someone else will. ..
