I have for sale a big and really heavy old alfred herbert lathe, its flat belt driven, i totally dismantled it, removed most of the old paint with the trusty grinder with wire brush, primed and repainted it all, attacked it with oily emery cloth and oil stones. And here she is...ripe for being driven by a steam engine or stationary engine. I was told by a guy on a net forum that he believes this machine is an ex-mod machine circa 1900 judging by its design. Possibly used to be a capstan lathe. Which i can believe as when i removed the headstock for the first time i found a few large bullets! Its approx 6 ft long, comes with 3 and 4 jaw chucks and a huge faceplate. Its a gap bed. It just needs finishing and recommissioning.
