Puma players and parents, First check out the great photos of the championship game in the new CC Champs folder in the photos and files tab that our fantastic team photographer Michelle Frey took for us. And if any other parents have photos to add, feel free! What a great game for our team and an amazing first tournament! I am so proud of everyones performance, attitude, team play and sportsmanship. We suited up and showed up, played well, displayed great character and....we won! There were many standout plays during the five games, too many to mention all of them. But the players came up with so many timely, great plays that I have to mention a few. Our pitching was nothing short of spectacular. Ian threw consistent strikes and let his players make plays. Luke stepped up and shut the opposing batters right down. Kekow and Ty...what can we say...the opponents barely even got to look at the ball and the control they maintained with the velocity was nothing short of amazing. Even Tee and Tate stepped in and gave us some crucial outs. On defense, Kekoa set the tone with his incredible diving catch in right. It seemed like every time our opponents got something going, one of our players would step up with a great defensive play to kill the rally. Luke went back and caught the deep pop-up with the bases loaded. Devin make two tough plays on hard hit balls, one of them a diving stop to his right and then got the out at second to end a threat. Koas great scoops at first saved runs, and Tys solid defense at pitcher shut down any opponents hope, especially with his smart move towards first to ensure a safe out. Derek and Jordan played amazing behind the plate, holding runners from stealing and running them down, while making great stops on errant pitches. And Ill NEVER forget Derek gunning down that Bomb Squad player in the Championship game at second, while Ian dove and scooped the one-hopper throw and applied the tag in one smooth motion. I SO wish I had a video of that play! Noah played a great first base securing any throws to him, and our outfield of Ayden, Jayzic and Tate snagged any ball that snuck thorugh the infield. Luke was smooth on that one-hopper at short and accurate in all his throws to first. Ty and Tee at short and third got every ball that came their way. We looked sharp and stayed alert, being ready on every pitch even when our pitchers were striking almost everyone out...that was GREAT FOCUS and DISCIPLINE, ALL OF YOU. On offense, EVERYONE contributed right down to Tate beating out an infield grounder in the last inning, then brother Ty walk-off homering to end the tournament and secure our victory! Fantastic and smart lead-off hitting to the left side by Ian and timely power shots by Kekoa, Derek and Jordan gave us the jump early. Luke smashed that liner over the left fielders head and Ayden had two two-run doubles to right center. The hustle to first on infield grounders from Devin and Tee put too much pressure on the other teams infielders forcing errors and extra bases. Noah got his power shots in resulting in RBIs and Jayzic got that critical RBI hit to keep us in a comfortable lead in the Championship game! Great hustle and sliding on stealing bases kept us taking full advantage of every opportunity. Our team speed provided intimidation to opposing fielders, and who can forget watching Ty run around those bases on his two homers, and even the one he got thrown out on at home. Pumas, we definitely have a lot of work to do. We didnt really have ample time to get ready for this tournament. But the effort you showed and the baseball execution you displayed was fantastic. Lets keep working hard and getting better. But just for today, lets CELEBRATE the AMAZING VICTORY YOU EARNED! CONGRATULATIONS 8U LV Pumas!
