Pump House Projects was awarded, and recently completed, an upgrade to a Water Treatment Facility at a treatment plant. The scope of work pertained to installing a new 375mm ductile iron suction line and upgrade of supply pipe sizing from 250mm and 300mm ductile iron discharge line; for connecting to a new 300mm x 250mm split case pump coupled to a 315 kW 4 pole 415 volt electric motor to facilitate future town requirements. Following a briefing onsite, TPH then took measurements of the existing system and pump room, allowing for an accurate 3D CAD drawing to be done of the new pipe work and fittings. This gave two things, a clear picture to the client of what the completed pump room would look like, also an accurate drawing of each individual part required to complete the works with millimetre accuracy, following approval of the design, each part was ordered. This was crucial, as the first section of works required the crew to remove the existing 250mm discharge pipe work and fittings and upgrade them to 300mm, this had to be completed within a eight hour window, as no water could flow to the town water storage tanks during this period, the pipe work was installed, and the water flowed that day. This was achieved due to a combination of well-designed plans using 3D CAD drawings, a structured plan before commencing works and the professional attitude and conduct of the installation team chosen to perform these work. On completion of the project Pump House Projects staff was commended for their high level of organisation, communication and ability to adhere to proposed schedule of works.
