Pumpkins Progress Report- October 28th 2014. You aint lived till youve kicked off the dust Of the city in the wild blue yonder And you aint lived till youve heard the sound Of silence roar like thunder You and I- born to fly Two long drifters in a rainbow sky You and I- rolling by Two long drifters in a rainbow sky You aint seen nothing till youve seen the stars So bright, you could pluck em from the sky And you aint seen nothing till youve seen the moon In June, on an mountain high Yes, you and I- born to fly Two long drifters in a rainbow sky Oh, you and I- rolling by Two long drifters in a rainbow sky The sun is beginning to shine on me But it aint the same sun it used to be Somewhere down along the line I lost a dream and a rhyme of mine The moon aint shining quite so bright And the stars are fading too As the very first glimpse of morning light Brightens up the view Yes, you and I- born to fly Two long drifters in a rainbow sky Ah, you and I- born to fly Two long drifters in a rainbow sky When I was growing up my father sometimes called me the oracle cause he thought that I knew everything. Well, I dont know everything. What I dont know I make up. I guess Im a natural born storyteller. Being a storyteller can get you out of a lot of trouble, but it can also get you into a lot of trouble. Well, a lot of people think were having an Indian Summer, but theyre wrong. An Indian Summer occurs in November. It is a period of warm weather following a cold spell or a hard frost. The Indian Summer can occur between November 11th (St Martins Day) and November 20th. There is an old saying that says if November 1st (All Saints Day) brings out winter, St Martins Day brings out Indian Summer. The term Indian Summer originated from the early Native Americans (Red Indians), some of whom believed that the condition was caused by a warm wind sent from the court of their god- Cautantowwit. Native American culture fascinates me. It has been a favorite theme of Pumpkins Progress Report from the very beginning. Well, I have two remaining pumpkins on the vine, but they aint gonna ripen in time for Halloween, but never mind. I have lots of Jack-o-lanterns. The kids loved carving their Jack-o-lanterns and little Bobby, Lauren and Abis little brother, loved the spiderman pumpkin I carved for him. Spiderman is his favorite Superhero. Tune in again for another edition of Pumpkins Progress Report tomorrow. Im still havent gotten used to the change of clock time. Ah well, back to the dusty old railroad again.
