Punjab athletes continued their superb performance and emerged winners in four competitions out of seven on the second day of Inter-Provincial U-16 Girls and U-14 Boys Athletics Championships being held under the aegis of Sindh Sports Board at PSB’s Coaching Center Karachi on Friday. On the points table, Punjab boys and girls cemented their position on the top. Punjab boys accumulated 67 points followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) with 30 and Sindh 25 points respectively. On the girls’ side, Punjab topped the table with 54 points while Sindh and KPK captured second and third spots respectively. Director Sports Sindh Shahid Abdus Salam Khan was the chief guest on this occasion. Punjab athletes dominated in Boys 1500m race, Boys High Jump, Boys 200m race and Girls 400m race while the Boys Javelin Throw and Girls 200m race events went to KPK and Sindh respectively. In the Boys 1500m race, top two positions were grabbed by Punjab sprinters Amer Abbas (4.14) and Babar Zaheer (4.38) while the third spot was won by Faraz Jan of KPK who covered his distance in 4.41 minutes. In Boys High Jump contest, the top three positions were taken by M Faisal of Punjab (1.45m), Hafeezullah of Fata (1.40m) and Shahzad Ali of Punjab (1.40m). Punjab sprinters also dominated the Boys 200m race and won the top two positions. M Hassaan topped the table with a timing of 25.30 followed by Kashif Nawaz who covered his distance in 25.83 minutes. Haris Khan of KPK was finished third with a timing of 26.69. Girls 400m contest was also won by Punjab. Milhan and Rubab from Punjab showed excellent performance and left behind the others to take top two positions. Gulzameen of KPK finished third in this race.
