Only weeks after enacting a groundbreaking ordinance to fight the cruelty of puppy and kitten mills by prohibiting pet stores from selling dogs and cats unless they come from shelters or rescue groups, several of the Cook County commissioners have introduced an amendment to reverse the important strides made to protect both consumers and pets suffering in mills.
