Purina horse feeds are utter crap. This is not just my - TopicsExpress

Purina horse feeds are utter crap. This is not just my opinion, but the opinion of many friends of mine. At this point, it is a fact of my life. I recently moved to Stony Creek where there was no feed stores who carries blue seal, so when we moved, I packed up my Trotter, four horses and made the move. I got through the first month on my stock pile, and the horses just did amazing, and got fatter (I was feeding stanlee hay for the first week then found a hay supplier.) Even after we took them off the stanlee and to the local hay, they gained. When I got down to my last two bags, the shuffle of feeds started. We settled on Purina because of the name they had... I wish every day we hadnt. My lovely app... who had never been sick or thin a day in my life coliced. we tubed... she passed it and got better... we did as the vet said and introduced her feed back to her slowly... LOW AND BEHOLD she coliced again. We dealt with this. She never was quite right but I kept feeding purina in more and more weight to get her weight up, she always threatened to colic on me. I found a blue seal supplier. After the switch was done, there was no more colic and my horse who turned into a bag of bones, no matter how much weight builder and feed I put at her... She hasnt had a colic episode since.,,, and shes almost over weight. My new Bay Hy was aquired while I was feeding Purina. She coliced mildly. I treated it myself and she was off for a few days... and then I switched back to blue seal. Strong mare yet again. Her coat now shines, and shes the eppitone of health. My Chestnut, Athena, she just lost a ton of weight, but one week into the switch... she was fat and sassy again. Mina, my 2yo paint got lethargic... Unsteady... switch feeds, low and behold... shes strong on her feet again. I leased a mare to a friend... who was feeding triple 10. the transition was done over two weeks. a few days of being on full on purina... she got... get this.... COLICY. This all after my friend (who was feeding purina) was having issue with COLIC and a unknown fever in her horse. She recently switched off of Purina to Blue seal... horses are gaining quickly... and it seems the medical issues that plauged her are fading further and further away. Ive looked up reviews for purina... for ever 1 good one there are three people with a story like mine or my friends. Some are worse. Thank god mine was caught and fixed before It got too bad. Purina is CRAP. I will not have it in my barn.
