Purpose of insulin and the sign of Allah... All type of cell except neuron can extract energy from fat and protein besides carbohydrates. But neuron can extract energy only from carbohydrate not from protein and fat. Why? Because neuron has no such enzyme for converting protein and fat into carbohydrate.why? Because as neurons are involved in nerve impulse conduction they must synthesize neurotransmitter(one type of polypeptide like enzyme) constantly in huge amount. So neurons use most of the energy to synthesize neurotransmiter and synthesize less enzyme(only enzyme related to carbohydrate metabolism). So for energy, neurons are dependent only on carbohydrate. But other tissue such as muscle can also use fat and protein for energy. Now, when there is enoug carbohydrate that is glucose in the blood, all type of cell including neuron use glucose for energy.But when glucose level in blood decrease, all type of cell cannot get enough glucose. As a result neurons will not survive but other cell can survive using stored fat and protein. So a supreme shapeless consciousness, Allah decide that, when there is enough glucose all type of cell will use it, but when there is not enough glucose, other cells except neuron should stop using glucose so that neuron can use the glucose to survive. But how to do this? Allah, creates a hormone, insulin and establish its receptor in the cell membrane of all type of cell except neuron, RBC etc. So when there is enough glucose, insulin secretion also increase and allow all the insulin dependant(its receptor containing) cell to use glucose along with neuron. But when glucose level is low, insulin secretion also decrease and all the insulin dependant cell stop using glucose due to lack of insulin and neuron being the insulin independant still use glucose to survive. So always remember that shapeless supreme consciousness, Allah who planned before your creation to meet the demand of different cell in different situation. The supreme consciousness that makes such plan behind creation of man is Allah. When king farao asked the prophet moses that what is lord? the prophet gave the definition of lord in the following quranic verse.
