Pursuit fears: Fed to lobby for law change Senior officials with the Police Federation of England and Wales are to step up their campaign for a change in road traffic legislation they believe is needed to protect officers involved in pursuits. John Giblin, Chairman of the staff association’s Roads Policing Group, said both he and colleagues would lobby politicians in a move to ensure that advanced drivers are recognised in law for their unique skills and training when they respond to incidents. Mr Giblin added: “We are now looking for a change in legislation to ensure that police officers on pursuits or responding to emergency calls are offered legal protection. “We are developing our strategy at the moment, and I can say that we will look to lobby government to ensure that the relevant legislation in future provides clarity for drivers.” policeoracle/news/Criminal+Justice/2013/Jul/12/Pursuit-fears-Fed-to-lobby-for-law-change-_67886.html
