Push to Impeach Obama Gains Major Ground More Members of Congress Eyeing Impeachment (Tea Party) – A long list of Congressional members have already discussed impeaching Obama for alleged violations of the Constitution. Now Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) joins those like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) jumping on the impeachment bandwagon. Broun is in a race to replace Sen. Saxby Chambliss who is retiring. Several of Broun’s opponents in the open race have also joined him in the impeachment movement. In a forum held over the weekend with candidates vying for Chambliss’ seat a moderator asked: “Obama has perjured himself on multiple occasions. Would you support impeachment if presented for a vote?” Broun and his opponents, Derrick Grayson, an engineer, and Eugene Yu, a businessman, all raised their hands showing support for impeachment. Several other candidates did not raise their hand and several running for the seat were not in attendance. Members of Congress who support impeachment (as reported by WND) now include: Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa; Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas; Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas; Rep. Bill Flores, R-Texas; Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif.; Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla.; Rep. Kerry Bentivolio, R-Mich.; Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas; Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla.; Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah; Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.; Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.; Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas; Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla.; and Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla. In an interview with talk-show host Sean Hannity several of them, including King and Farenthold, commented on the issue. As grounds for impeachment, King pointed out Obama’s action (or lack thereof) on immigration including his order not to enforce the current immigration laws as well as Obama’s violations of his signature health care and the “recess” appointments of judges when the Senate was not in recess. King’s take is that the “uber-presidency” has little if, any respect, for the Constitution. Farenthold says that Obama “is grabbing as much power as he can,” but pointed out that Congress is doing very little to squelch him either. Both Farenthold and King believe that Obama is exercising enormous power and that Congress either cannot or will not put a stop to it. “The president knows it; he’s exploiting it,” said King. Special investigations and possible prosecutions are needed for various Obama scandals including the Fast and Furious and Benghazi suggested Rep. Stockman who handed out copies of a book described as “articles of impeachment” for Barack Obama to every member of Congress. Speaking at a town hall meeting, Rep. Bill Flores (R-TX) considered the idea of impeachment. “I’ve looked at the president. I think he’s violated the Constitution. I think he’s violated the Bill of Rights,” said Flores who believes a decision needs to be made at some point in time. “I think if the House had an impeachment vote, it would probably impeach the president.” The trouble is, Flores noted, there are only 46 members of the GOP in the Senate. To obtain a conviction in a Senate trial, 67 votes are required by the prosecution. Flores is not sure that all members of the GOP would vote to impeach though. Referencing Obama’s plan to bomb Syria, Hunter told the Washington Times, “I think he’s breaking the law if he strikes without congressional approval.” “And if he proceeds without Congress providing that authority, it should be considered an impeachable offense.” Tom Coburn (R-OK) stated that Obama is “perilously close” to being qualified to be impeached. During a speaking engagement at the Muskogee Civic Center in Oklahoma Coburn said: “What you have to do is you have to establish the criteria that would qualify for proceedings against the president, and that’s called impeachment.” Coburn continued saying it’s “not something you take lightly, and you have to use a historical precedent of what that means.” It would be a “dream come true” to impeach Obama said Kerry Bentivolio (R-MI). He went on to tell his constituents “I feel your pain and I know. I stood 12 feet away from that guy and listened to him, and I couldn’t stand being there. But because he is president I have to respect the office. That’s my job as a congressman. I respect the office.” Bentivolio has consulted with attorneys about removing Obama from office and what it would take. When questioned about impeachment, Cruz said, : “It’s a good question,” Cruz said. “And I’ll tell you the simplest answer: To successfully impeach a president you need the votes in the U.S. Senate.” Back in May Inhofe offered up the idea of Obama’s impeachment over the attack in Benghazi and the White House cover-up. Inhofe told listeners of “The Rusty Humphries Show:” “Of all the great cover-ups in history – the Pentagon papers, Iran-Contra, Watergate, all the rest of them – this … is going to go down as the most egregious cover-up in American history.” However, Inhofe fell short of calling for impeachment. Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) has tentatively offered up support for impeaching Obama, telling CNN: “I’m not willing to take it off the table, but that’s certainly not what we’re striving for.” Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) called for Obama’s impeachment more than two years ago even before he was elected to Congress. In 2011 on his website, Yoho listed reasons for impeachment. Glenn Beck, Watergate investigative reporter Bob Woodward, WND columnist Nat Hentoff along with a panel of top constitutional experts have also been party to talks of impeachment. Members of the House of Representatives received a copy of the book, “Impeachable Offenses: The Case for Removing Barack Obama from Office” from Stockman in order to boost his case for launching a special investigation of President Obama. “Impeachable Offenses” has been called “explosive” by the Daily Mail of London which said the book contains “a “systematic connect-the-dots exercise that the president’s defenders will find troublesome.” Among constituents there is also some heated debate. Voters in Rep. Jim Bridenstine’s (R-OK) Oklahoma district have a “take no prisoners” approach when it comes to Obama. One woman charged that there needs to be changes to the Senate so that “We can impeach the S-O-B.” Still another retorted, “He’s not president as far as I’m concerned. … Should be executed. He’s an enemy combatant.” Congress is not doing a thing, she complained and said that “allows this moron to make decisions.” “He has no authority. None.” It is unclear where the meeting was held with these constituents but the video was just recently uploaded. Bridenstine’s office was unable to provide immediate details. Bridenstine has been documenting Obama’s rampant “lawlessness.”
