Pushed out of view by the bigger bands of 1970,Lucifers Friend(great name)was a German version of Deep Purple,Sabbath,Uriah Heep and Zeppelin rolled into one.Fronted by English vocalist John Lawton, these guys were everything the front cover (and band name)promised and then some.Seems this album was always overpowered by the controversy concerning opening cut Ride The Sky which bore more than a passing resemblance to Led Zeps Immigrant Song.Since they were both released the same year, the discussion was always about who ripped who off-if it was LF then it would merely be paying homage to a great band.If LZ did it,well shame on them.Whatever,we just loved it cause it kicked ass. They went on to make several albums, with Lawton leaving to join Uriah Heep and eventually reuniting with the band.
