Put 1500 men in a room and ask them this question, “If, in a relationship with a woman, you had to choose feeling loved or feeling respected, which you would choose?” Shaunti Feldhahn, the author of For Women Only, did this to discover that the vast majority of men want respect even more than love. If this is true ladies, then it should impact the way that we relate to our men. This strain in a man runs so deep that he may not even know how to talk about it. All men know this. But we women sometimes find it difficult to understand how men could put love second to respect. The Urantia Book states… (1773.4) 160:1.7 Successful living is nothing more or less than the art of the mastery of dependable techniques for solving common problems. The first step in the solution of any problem is to locate the difficulty, to isolate the problem, and frankly to recognize its nature and gravity. The great mistake is that, when life problems excite our profound fears, we refuse to recognize them. Likewise, when the acknowledgment of our difficulties entails the reduction of our long-cherished conceit, the admission of envy, or the abandonment of deep-seated prejudices, the average person prefers to cling to the old illusions of safety and to the long-cherished false feelings of security. Only a brave person is willing honestly to admit, and fearlessly to face, what a sincere and logical mind discovers. ~ Rodan If a wise woman wants to begin a campaign to strengthen her relationship with her man this is the starting place. Only a brave woman can face her own weaknesses and logically…with sincerity…discover the needs of her man in her own life. The Golden Rule requires we put ourselves in his place. What is it that we women want (that’s tomorrow)? And if we want that from him…let’s start first with giving to him what he longs for. Respect!
