Put this as a response to a friends nice post earlier and want some feedback from others: Okay, serious question for you, then, Autumn. While it appears you (and I believe rightly and without chauvinism) contend that most men dont realize the force and power of lending worth and value to women as beautiful partners in this life, is there not a strange disconnect in the weight put upon genders in one setting and the levity in the next? Let me lightly elucidate my persuasion: If women are, and with verity you are, the ones carrying the right to accept or deny mens advances, are women not, then, equally responsible for their own estates when they have chosen to (through ignorance, preference, or psychological malady) embrace an inferior partner? If women are the rightful masters of their futures (and you are), should there not be an equal importance placed upon their wise selection of suitable choices for companions? Should the honor and respect she deserves be afforded, will it not be because she has set herself in a position to be honored? Are not women, then, in their natural and proper position, the ones in control of the relationship just as much as (and perhaps more than) men? Though that may sound chauvinistic, are you, women, not honestly and actually, the ones ultimately carrying the weight of whether you choose the better men or settle for whatever is leftover? Growing up, as I did, with so many strong female leads (and male as well, but the point here is the female influence), I find it a bit unsettling that this society is emasculating men in one breath and condemning them for not being men in the other. Thoughts?
