Put together by my daughter, Holly McClendon, she did a wonderful job for awareness, thank you so much! Love Mom Holly McClendon wrote a new note: November Is RSD/CRPS Awareness Month. November Is RSD/CRPS Awareness Month November Is RSD/CRPS Awareness Month November 30th, 2010 my Mom had Meniscus knee surgery. What should have been a fast recovery surgery has now turned into something she will always deal with. She now has RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy). More specifically, CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) TYPE II. My Mothers CRPS started in one foot and, in less than a year, took over the entire left limb as well as her right foot, and continued to progress from there. She can no longer work and cannot walk without the assistance of a crutch or cane. The additional information listed below is to help raise awareness, Please Share, Tag & Pass it On! Thank You. RSD Symptoms: Severe burning pain Pathological changes in the bone Excessive sweating Spascicity Pathological changes in the skin Tissue swelling Extreme sensitivity to touch Pathological muscle weakness Stiffness Tremors Headaches/Migraines Nerve damage Dystonia As many as 65% of RSD cases come from soft tissue injuries; such as burns, sprains, strains, tears, and most of the problems that end in “itis”; bursitis, arthritis, and tendonitis to name a few RSD/CRPS Type I can follow a simple trauma (fall or sprain), break or fracture(especially wrist and ankle), a sharp force injury (such as a knife or bullet wound), heart problems, infections, surgery, spinal injuries/disorders, RSIs (Repetitive Stress Injuries), CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome), Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, injections, and even some partial paralysis injury cases. CRPS TYPE II involves definable major nerve injury. Type II is also what was once known as Causalgia. It spreads, it jumps from limb to limb and it is absolutely debilitating. My RSD/CRPS Video On YouTube: youtu.be/nJFYSBjjLjo My feet and leg are much better now, I hope I can maintain that, pain still is with me but, relief from the swelling sure does help. I will post different stages through the month of November for awareness. I wish I would have taken pictures of my leg down to the foot after my meniscus surgery but, we were running a going out f business sale so no time. I can say it was like a tree trunk in size I had so stretch booties thank goodness, only partial toes showed from all the swelling, no room for socks just the booties. Mom on the cover Ribbon is me, my youngest daughter made this for me. Please share and let others see some of what we hide as we are told you look good.We all that have this syndrome I think have learned how to put on the mask and suffer within. So, dont assume no matter what the disease is or the syndrome if we look good all is okay.
