Q & A SERIOUSLY OVERSTEPPED THE MARK The ABCs Q&A program on Monday night was so biased and divisive it could be used by Islamic State recruiters as propaganda to recruit disaffected young Muslims in Australia, a federal government MP has claimed. Craig Kelly has become the second federal Liberal MP to savagely attack Monday nights program which featured two Muslim panellists who said the raids were conveniently timed ahead of Wednesdays introduction of new national security legislation which gives authorities boosted powers and creates new terror offences. Mr Kelly said the argument that the government cooked up the raids for its own political gain is just as false as those who claim the moon landing was faked and the 9/11 attacks were authorised by the American government and not al-Qaeda. Federal Liberal MP Craig Kelly said ABCs Q&A program on Monday night seriously overstepped the mark. That narrative that this is all a beat-up actually encourages the radicalisation, has the potential to encourage the radicalisation of young people, Mr Kelly told Fairfax If I was a terrorist recruiter I would take that program from Q&A and I would say look at this, this is the typical opinion, this is the Australian Broadcasting Network, this is what they believe, this is all a government conspiracy out to target a particular group of the community, Mr Kelly said. When that view is promoted into a mainstream view, that this is all a conspiracy between the government and ASIO, that this is all a beat-up and a Hollywood fabrication, that does feed into the narrative which increases the radicalisation of our youth. I think the program on Q&A on Monday night seriously overstepped the mark.
