Q&A with Richard Chua - Founder Talent 100 Some people say that HSC Coaching Colleges provide an unfair advantage to students who dont attend Coaching Colleges. Some also say that coaching creates extra work and may result in extra pressure for the student, what are your thoughts on this topic? Im a big believer that education should produce equal opportunities, not equal outcomes. I think that it makes perfectly good sense that students who put more effort into understanding the content better, take the time to hone their exam technique, should therefore perform better in exams should be rewarded greater. I think what a good coaching centre does is to streamline that process for a student. But at the end of the day, the student still needs to put in the hard work and sacrifice. With regard to pressure, I think theres a delicate balance - too little pressure and you often underachieve. Too much pressure, and you can crack. Thats why at Talent 100, we try to be very supportive of our students and actually reduce the pressure they feel. For example, we have a policy of HSC first which means if students have assessments or exams, we are more lenient in that period with regards to homework, and in fact, we try to give our students additional support (e.g. private tutoring) so they can focus on and ace their exams.
