Q. ? .. Some claim that proclaiming “Yaa Rasoolallah” is shirq. Bismihita’la, Al jawabu biawnil wahhab, Undoubtedly calling out Ya Rasoolallah is NEVER shirq, rather it is proved by the holy Quran and sacred traditions. Moreover the actions of the angels and the practice of sahaba and ummah also play a vital role in its evidence. Not only sahaba said “Ya Rasoolallah” at the time of our prophets worldly life, but also after his demise. In the holy Quran, in different places Allahu subhanahu tala adressed His most beloved prophet saying “Ya ayyuhan nabi, Ya ayyuhar rasool, Ya ayyuhal muzzammil, Ya ayyuhal muddassir“. In this way, in hadith-e-jibreel (mishkat shareef babu wafatin nabi) It is mentioned that hazrat jibreel alaihi salam said “Ya muhammadu akhbirni anil islaam“. Means; “O Mohammad (Sallallahu alaihi wassallam) tell me about Isalm”. Similarly, at the time of our prophet’s demise, hazrat Israeel Alaihisallam said “Ya Muhammadu Innallaha arsalani iilayeeka”. Means; “O Mohammad, no doubt Allah has sent me to your honor”. Not only this, but also even Rasoolullah Sallallahu alaihi wassallam himself educated his one of the companion who was blind to say; “Allahumma inni asaluka wa atawajjahu ilaika binnabeeka mohammadin nabir rahmati ya mohammadu inni tawajjahtu bika ila rabbi fi hajati hazihi lituqda li Allahumma fashaffihu fiyya“. (Ibne Maaja) Means; “Oh Allah, I ask Your honor by the waseela of Your nabi who is merciful, Oh Mohammad I have turned towards my Lord using your means in this need of mine, so that it is fullfilled, Ya Allah accept the intercession of Rasoolullah Sallalahu Wassalam for me (Wafaaul Wafaa vol.2 pg. 420). Imam Tirmizi and Nasai have also narrated this hadith and Imam Tirmizi said, “Haza Hadithun hasanun sahihun gareebun“. Imam Bahiqi and Tabrani also said this hadith is sahih. Moreover Imam Bahiqi extended as soon as that companion followed this dua his blindness got vanished and he became able to see clearly. The above evidences were at the time of our Prophet’s worldly life even after his demise our ancestors used to call out saying “Ya Rasoolullah”. As for example, in Fataawa Alamgiri (Aadaabu ziyarati qabrinnabi). It is stated that when you go to visit rauza of Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alahi Wassallam say “O Nabi, I testify that you are the messenger of Allah”. After this it is stated to that facing toward the holy grave of Abu Bakr Siddique say; “O the true successor of Rasoolullah Sallallahu Wassallam, the companion of noble messanger in the cave of Thaur, further one should say presenting sallam to Hazrat Umer Farooq “O leader of the Muslims, the illuminator of Islam, the destroyer of idols”. Apart from this a lot of auliyae kamileen also used to say “Ya Rasoolullah” in their supplications and religious recitals as for example, Imam Buseri writes in his well known qasseda Burda Shareef “O greatest of creation! There is none besides you for me take refuge in at the time of calamities”. Hazrat Imam-e-Azam writes in his eminent Qaseeda-e-Nomania, “Ya sayyidas saadati ji’tuka qaseedan arju ridaka wahtami bihimak“. Means, “O master of all the masters, O chief of all chiefs, I came to your honor with a heart full desire. I’m hopeful of your pleasure and hand myself over to your protection”. Some antagonists of Islam quote the aayah number 106 of Surah Yunus, “Wala tadwu min dunillah mala yanfauka wala yadurruk“. For the evidence of their fake claim, in fact, such people translate the word tadwu wrong and misguide the Muslims. They say hear the word “tadwu” means to call out. i.e Alah ta’ala says don’t call out anyone other than Allah. In this regard saahibe tafseere jalalain says here the word tadwu means to worship not to call out as 117 number of aayah of surah muminoon Allah says, “Wa main tadwu maalaahi ilahan aakhar“. Means, “And whoever worships any other besides Allah. So this aayah definitely corroborates this meaning. i.e worship not call out. Therefore saying “Ya Rasoolallah” no doubt, is allowed, but also, prove by the holy Quran, Hadith, the action of sahaba and Aulia E Kamileen. Wallahualam bissawaab, sannusana barvatia
