Q: Some people believe that crying over Al-Hussein (a.s.) is the result of a weakness, what do you say about that? A: Crying over Al-Hussein (a.s.) is the result of sincere and profound human emotions. It is crying flourished with purity. Actually, the person who does not shed tears for any tragedy, let alone a tragedy as atrocious as Karbala tragedy, is cruel and heartless, and this is what reflects his lack of humanitarian feelings and weakness of personality . Thus, the person who cries over the tragedy of Al-Hussein (a.s.) or over any other similar tragedy actually experiences a strong humanitarian feeling. Moreover, he who does not cry over the tragedy of Imam Al-Hussein (a.s.) will not cry over any other human tragedy he might experience. Therefore, crying represents a strong humane feeling and not weakness, and humanitarian feelings have no place whatsoever in a heart made of stone.
