Q: We had a lamb die at our state fair this last weekend. The state vet posted it for us and determined that is was a twisted gut. Im wanting a little more information on this condition, and I havent found anything online. I was wondering what you can tell me about twisted gut in sheep. Are there anythings that could have caused this? Is there anything we could have done to prevent it or to have saved the lamb? A: Years ago one of my daughters lost her lamb at county fair, same diagnosis. It is sporadic with no known cause and we see it occasionally and it occurs in other species as well. Seldom diagnosed in time for treatment. Treatment would consist of oral mineral oil and Banamine injected.
