Q) Who should run for next years Pub Quiz Soc committee? A) YOU! Hey everyone (excuse the terrible intro!) Its that time of the year again when elections are underway (and theres a constant supply of sweets from people wearing colourful tops), and Pub Quiz Society is no exception! The nominations for next years Pub Quiz Soc committee are now OPEN! To nominate yourself for next years committee, go to su.nottingham.ac.uk/elections/nominations/766/ (youll be prompted to log in first!) The positions up for grabs are: President: The president oversees the running of the society, provides support to committee members in their duties and has final say on decisions. Treasurer: The treasurer must look after the finances of the society. They should keep a track of all money going in and out of the accounts, and advise the committee on financial issues. They should keep their own record of the society’s finances so they are able to keep check on the treasury and so they are always fully aware of the states of the accounts. (NOTE: you cannot run for treasurer if you will be in your final academic year in 2014/15!) General Secretary: The general secretary must take accurate minutes of the meetings and distribute the minutes. They will organise the meetings and assist the president in chairing the meetings. They will email members of the society with details of upcoming events. Events Secretary (x2): The events secretaries will organise the pub quizzes, including the booking of the venue and the writing of the quiz. You will need to submit a manifesto (which should give a brief intro about why you want to run for the position, maybe some experience you have that you feel will be useful for the position, and then a list of policies you would implement if you were elected to the role youre running for) and (optionally) a photo. Being on committee is a lot of fun and will look good on your CV! However, the society is in a very good position now, and we believe that next years committee can really take the society to its full potential!
