Q by Emily Brady: I love reading your advice, hope you can give me some insight on this...Each time I finish training and complete a race I feel like it takes me weeks to get back in the groove of running-I seem to avoid running and eat everything in sight! After several weeks I decide to start again and really enjoy it so how can I prevent the roller coaster of training? Thank you! A by Coach Jenny: Thank you Emily! It sounds as though you may benefit from a post-race plan. Something that is light and easy, but still a little structured so you keep motivated after the event is over. It can be challenging because there is a let-down after the excitement of the race is over. Try this next time --> plot out a three week plan that includes activities you enjoy and focus mostly on those while keeping your runs short and easy. For instance, if you normally run four days per week, you could cross-train with other activities (yoga, cycling, Zumba...) for 2-3 days, run short and easy for 3 days and rest for 1-2. Just make sure the first week post race is easy all the way around and includes some rest days too. Happy racing! CJ
