Q for the group about Hashimotos from an autoimmune mom: I was just diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroiditis in April of this year. At the time of diagnosis I was wrestling with so many hypothyroid symptoms yet my T4 level was always within normal range. I have been on Synthroid (generic brand) since then in an effort to get me feeling a bit better. My question is this: What are my options if A) I still have more bad days than I would like? B) I cannot lose weight for the life of me despite being paleo, counting every calorie (for years), and working out (also for years to the tune of half marathons, biathlons, 1 sprint triathlon, and a healthy workout regime so as not to overstress my body at any given point)? Heres a kicker I also have BRCAII - which means even more diet restrictions as well. Is there hope? Because I have so many days when I wanna just throw in the towel, cozy up to a bag of chips, and cut my losses. Anything you could offer up would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
