Q-tip for 10/12/2014: Many times a horse may need a bandage applied on a leg wound or for shipping or support. It pays to learn how to properly apply a bandage, as a poorly applied bandage can actually harm your horse. Vet wrap is great, but never use it alone on the leg. There should be at least 3 layers of cotton underneath the entire outer wrap, or you risk having uneven pressure cause a bowed tendon. The picture show an improper use of vet wrap (pink) and a properly applied bandage (blue). Ask your vet or an experienced horse person to help you learn how to bandage, and practice BEFORE the emergency comes!
