Q1: Will we ever become God? A: I dont think so, though we may become god-like in terms of powers and vision greater than that which earlier technological civilizations considered to be attributes of god(s). But the process of becoming greater than that which can be conceived - a definition that some theologians have proposed for God) is something that is never ending. As we discover new things we learn that there are new things to learn. The scientific method is in part based on the concept of falsifiability, i.e., all we hypothesize is in fact not demonstrably true, but potentially false. If it was otherwise we would have a dogmatic unchangeable position. Science thus suggests we will never become God, however god-like we become. https://youtube/watch?v=uSTP102nN0Y Q2: Would an intelligent alien civilization dismiss God as a possibility? A: I dont think so. Its entirely possible that some advanced civilizations would choose not to believe in a God, but not be certain that this non-belief was justified (a form of Agnosticism). I suspect that belief/disbelief in such an entity is always going to be a personal one. The argument follows in a similar way as to the one above. We can not build a rational system of belief that would answer all that is true. Such is a consequence of Godellian Incompleteness: no symbolic/discursive logical system of rationality can prove all true statements. There is always doubt, a systematic reality we have to accept. If God is again defined as that which no greater can be conceived, we can not build a rational argument that can dismiss the possibility of such a God existing, since our process and capacity are limited to being less than that which is possible in a limited universe. The result is whilst individuals may choose, or choose not to believe, in God, it is quite likely that all advanced alien civilizations will come to agree that the possibility exists. https://youtube/watch?v=7zGbrsMlCII
