Q3. What were Jesus’ prophecies about the last days and how were they fulfilled with Baha’u’llah’s coming? A3. In addition to Thief in the Night by William Sears, Michael Sours’ book The Prophecies of Jesus and Nabíl Hanna’s Bible Proofs are excellent references. Very briefly here is my summary: a. The Gospel will be preached to all nations (Matt 24:14). This happened in the 19th century as Christian missionaries reached all parts of the globe. b. The days of the gentiles will end (Luke 21:24). This refers to the end of non-Jews ruling the Holy Land. The “days of the gentiles” ended in the 1948 when the state of Israel was formed although the process of repatriation of Jews to Israel began in the 19th century with the Zionist movement. c. When the abomination that maketh desolate is seen (Matt 24:15) which refers to Daniel 8:13 which says 2300 days. Daniel 9:24 indicates that the birth of Messiah will be in 456 years, therefore end= 2300 minus 456=1844 (see Some Answered Questions p. 41-2) d. His coming will not be concealed (Matt 24:23). Baha’u’llah never hid Himself but openly declared His mission, even to the Pope. e. He will come in clouds or come seated in clouds or upon clouds (Luke 21:27 "And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory"; Matt 24:29 "they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory".) Baha’u’llah explains that, “By the term "clouds" is meant those things that are contrary to the ways and desires of men.” (Kitab-i-Iqan, p. 71). Therefore the person of the Manifestation (His physical appearance, His nationality, His culture, His bodily needs) as well as His annulment of the laws of previous religions become a “cloud” to people, preventing them from readily accepting His mission.
