QB Ryan Tannehill Conference Call with Indianapolis Media (On starting off the season with a win) – “Like you said we started with a win and that’s the most important thing, anytime you can start the season on a win it’s a good thing. We did some good things in the game and we struggled a little bit at time during the game and that is our focus this week, its to be able to fix that struggle point in the game where we don’t have that and we are able to move the ball consistently throughout the game and score in the redzone. I think our defense did a great job of getting turnovers for us early in the game and as an offense we didn’t capitalize on those and whenever your defense is making plays you want to step up as an offense and capitalize on turnovers.” (On the difference between year one and year two) – “I’m a lot more comfortable, everything has really slowed down for me. I really got to use this off-season to grow and use training camp, last year in training camp I was battling for the starting position, so I really got to use training camp this year to really grow and grow in the offense and we are excited about what we can do this year and we have to take it one game at a time.” (On if the game has slowed down noticeably for him this year ) – “No, it definitely started slowing down for me last year once I got a couple games under my belt. But coming into this year, having 16 games under the belt it really helps to start off with the game already slowed down a lot.” (On if the familiarity of the offense helped his development from college football to pro football) – “It’s a huge help. Really coming in you are not having to learn an entire new playbook. The foundation of the offense is going to be the same, you are going to have a lot of new things, new terminology, new concepts things like that but the foundation of the offense is going to be the same and that really helped me early on and has me really comfortable at this point, having run the same plays for four plus years now. I have had a lot of reps, maybe not in NFL games, but I have had lot of reps at the plays and it helps to settle in.” (On the 2012 quarterback draft class) – “(It’s) definitely fun to play against these guys, I have played against Andrew and Russell last year and had a lot of fun and battled it out with both of them and we got to know each other a little bit throughout the draft process, you are around each other so I will always have a ton of respect for those guys and keep up with them as well.” (On what it could be like playing against the 2012 draft class for years to come) – “It could be fun. The NFL is a tough league and every week is going to be a tough game. When you play some people you know, it makes it that much more competitive and that much more fun at the end of the day.” (On if he has gotten to know Andrew Luck) – “Yeah I met him at the Manning (Passing) Camp right before the year we came out, our last year, and then was around him again throughout the draft process. (He is) just a great guy a great competitor and a great quarterback. ” (On Andrew Luck) – “I admire him a lot, he can make all the throws, he’s really good in the pocket after contact shrugging off defensive linemen. I can’t tell you how many times last year during our game that he was able to stand strong in the pocket and then he may be falling down but get the ball out and somehow get a first down. That is something that I admire about him. ” (On the football talent in state of Texas) – “Well there’s a lot of people playing (football). It’s a large state with a lot of guys playing so the ‘pool’ size helps. I think the seven-on-seven in the summer is the biggest thing it’s so big right now. Almost every high school is running a spread offense or a version of the spread offense so kids are getting a lot of throws and they are playing year around due to seven-on-seven.” (On what type of quarterback he would label himself) – “I really don’t look to label myself at all. My first instinct is not to run, for sure, I want to get the ball out down field. Look at my progressions, have great pocket presence, be able to move around and stand in there and make a tough throw with pressure in my face, but I also think that I have the athleticism to get out when I need to, be able to move the pocket and move the chains with my feet.”
