QFA Marks International Workers’ Day Qatar Football Association (QFA) marked International Workers’ Day on May 1st with a large number of expatriate workers by taking the Emir Cup trophy and making a stop at the New Doha International Airport (NDIA) where thousands of attending workers were ecstatic to take pictures with the iconic trophy. All workers that were present were given a bag that included essential goods that the workers can use on a daily basis. The QFA branded bag included the following items: Towel, Soap, Food Containers, Toothbrush and Toothpaste. May 1 is marked worldwide to recognise and value the efforts of labour workers. QFA officials were enthusiastic to interact with the workers at their work site and give them the chance to share the excitement of the Emir Cup by setting up an area where they can hold the trophy and take their own pictures with their friends and fellow labour workers. Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, Acting Chief Operations Officer commented: “International Workers’ Day is a very important day and is recognized worldwide. QFA has celebrated this day as a way to illustrate its recognition and appreciation of labour workers efforts and hard work.” He added: “Emir Cup is celebrated by all members of the community, and taking the trophy to the NDIA labour workers reiterates the phrase ‘football for all’. We want everyone to be able to share the excitement of this tournament and we truly enjoyed giving back to the workers by distributing more than 2000 bags that included essential items. We must not make this working class feel excluded and must make them feel part of the community.” International Workers Day, also known as Labor Day or May Day, is a celebration of laborers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labor movement and occurs every year on May 1.
