#QLD #Severwarning #Corp Update: SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for DAMAGING WIND For people in the Northwest, Central West and parts of the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and Central Highlands and Coalfields Forecast Districts. Issued at 5:59 pm Saturday, 25 January 2014. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Longreach, Winton, Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek and Camooweal. Wind gusts of 69 knots was recorded at Cloncurry around 1.50pm. There are reports of a trees blown down and structural damage to metal roof hangar at Cloncurry airport around same time. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 9:00 pm. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureaus website at bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
