QU signs pact with Malaysian university Qatar University (QU) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) signed a collaborative agreement on Monday to explore opportunities to develop, support and enrich academic and research activities and professional development at QU’s College of Pharmacy (CPH). The agreement was signed between QU president Professor Sheikha Abdulla al-Misnad and USM vice-chancellor Professor Dato’ Omar Osman in the presence of QU vice-president and chief academic officer Dr Mazen Hasna, USM deputy vice-chancellor (research and innovation) Dr Mohamed Jantan, CPH Dean Dr Ayman El-Kadi and faculty. The terms of the agreement comprise student and faculty exchanges, joint participation in research and the teaching of best practice in public sector leadership, and joint organised training and development programmes for professional and non-academic staff. Professor Al-Misnad said QU is interested in knowing more about Malaysia’s successful academic model that is contributing to the country developing internationally. Dr Osman explained that the agreement addresses four important areas -- student exchange, research, social development and staff development. He also stated that USM offers diverse majors and enjoys good international relationships and a reputation that lists it as one of the top 200 universities in the world. Dr El-Kadi noted that the agreement will bring together faculty and students of pharmacy to advance collaboration and exchanges for mutual benefit. “In partnering with USM in the stated activities, we at the College are enhancing our academic and research portfolio, and further advancing our professional development programme with expertise and experience from USM that mirror those at CPH. We look forward to this partnership.” gulfinthemedia/index.php?m=politics&id=688824&lang=en
