QUAIDER CAN BANG WITH THE BEST OF THEM! Just seven seconds into yesterday’s Bruins/Flyers game, Philly D-man Nick Schultz leveled Danny Paille with a huge open ice hit in the neutral zone, prompting Adam McQuaid to take all of 0.2 seconds to react and come to the defense of his teammate. Schultz’s hit was a good, clean hockey hit, although it may have been a little high on initial contact. McQuaid took exception to seeing his teammate get laid out, and he wasn’t about to let Schultz skate away without answering for the check. As we’ve known how McQuaid performs in fights, he handled Schultz with relative ease, pinning a few jabs in close before getting the helmet off and finishing the bout with a flurry of rights. The Bruins have been missing this for much of the season, a sense of physicality, a sense of toughness and a willingness to get into a scrap to defend a teammate. I’ll take it any day of the week.
