QUALITIES TO CONSIDER WHEN DECIDING ON YOUR SHERIFF CANDIDATE -- THE ABILITY TO DELEGATE When you are considering who to vote for Sheriff on November 4th, there are several important qualities you should be considering when deciding on a candidate to support. I believe one of these qualities is the ability to delegate…… One of the most important aspects of running an organized and efficient Sheriff’s Office is trust! You need to be able to trust and share your vision and ideas with your staff. I believe that trusting your administrative team with your ideas and vision for the future is a sign of strength, not weakness. I believe developing the skill of delegating tasks to the appropriate people is so very important. When you fail to delegate, emails and tasks pile up, projects get further and further behind, and you end up stretching yourself way too thin. Worse yet, it becomes very evident to your “team” that you don’t trust them -- evident that you are leading a team of “one”. This lack of trust affects the morale and the overall chemistry of a department. Weve seen several examples in our office of what happens when the Sheriff chooses not to delegate. I believe it’s important to have a Sheriff that can identify the strengths of his team and administration, and then capitalize on them. I look forward to the challenge of finding out each team member’s strengths and interests, and putting a plan in place to utilize them in those areas. I believe this will improve our department’s performance, our department’s work environment, and our departments trust in its administration. I believe as your Sheriff, proper delegating will not only prove to our administrative team that I trust and believe in them, but also will free up my time to focus on tasks that need to be dealt with specifically by the Sheriff. The ability to find this balance will have a huge impact on the quality of services we provide to the citizens of Dodge County, the quality of our working environment, and the overall productivity and performance of the Sheriff’s Office. **************************************************** Over the next 11 weeks well focus on a number of different qualities I believe are important to consider when trying to decide who to support for Sheriff on November 4th. As always, I appreciate your consideration and hope youll decide to support our campaign on election day! Have a great night everyone!!! Scott
