QUESTION FOR YOU ALL AND A BIG THANK YOU: Is discussing politics, religion, etc. here on facebook with those that seem not only determined to disagree, but actively hostile towards any kind of a meeting of the minds, a waste of time and an exercise in futility? On the surface, the answer seems to be yes. But in reality I think not, for at least two reasons. First, because we can never really know the impact our words have on the individual we are talking with, even if the fruits of those words are not seen immediately. Typically, when challenged most tend to default to a defensive posture, but perhaps later upon reflection, they may be willing to consider some of the information and reasoning presented earlier. I know that has been the case with me, personally, so I assume that others are similar. Secondly, we need to remember the silent readers, those that read but do not post. I, too, have been there, reading and considering and later researching and actively learning. So many times people have told me how much they enjoy reading some of the posts because of the things my smart friends have said. And occasionally some have even said that the words that they have read here have made them change their minds and consider ideas that they hadnt thought of before. So, thank you to all of you who exhort and expound and exhaust all the avenues of discourse on my page. I appreciate you more than you know.
